Busy June

Hello

Sorry I've not updated sooner but our computers been down.

June was a very busy month, it started with us doing a pig roast at the first Astonbury Music Festival.

The pig roast went down well and we enjoyed the music even if we were busy working, we couldn't stay after we sold out though as we had to get the roaster home to clean as dad had a private pig roast the next day.

Dad had private pig roasts every weekend in June from weddings to a party at Broughton Castle near Banbury.

New Toys

Dad has got himself two new toys, a mule (not a real one) and a small tractor.

These will make it easier to feed in the woods and clean out the barn.

The tractor only has room for one and thats a shame as I would really love to have a ride in it.

The mule has two seats so Rebecca and me squish together on one seat.

It's fun to ride in and makes us laugh, I'm not sure I'd like it so much in the winter as it diesn't have doors.

I'll write again when I've got more news.

New Litters

Hi since I last wrote we have had three new litters, two were born in an ark in the woods and one in the barn.

When litters are born in an ark there is always the worry the sow will squash the piglets so we have special farrowing arks.

These have low scaffold poles along the sides for the piglets to escape out of the way and an area at the back which only they can get into.

For the first few days dad puts a low piece of wood across the door so the piglets don't fall out, then when they are stonger he takes it off.

Introducing Chloe and Rebecca

Hello

I am Chloe and I have just had my 12th burthday.

That's me with my birthday feed bucket and my sister Rebecca feeding the pigs.

Rebecca is 13 and I hope she doesn't become a terrible teenager!.

We both help mum and dad when we are not at school with the pigs or help at the markets, this is very good for our maths.

It has been very hard doing pig work this winter as we all kept getting stuck in the mud and losing our wellie boots, even dad had to ask his friend Charlie to tow the truck out of the mud lots of times.
